Vintage French 'Garantie' Heavy Rolled Gold Statement Chain

A stunning heavy, multi link rolled gold chain necklace from the 1940/50's featuring high-shine polished links with diamond-cut textured accents that beautifully catch the light.

The terminal ring connecting the clasp bears a beautifully preserved, official French "GARANTIE" assay stamp. In historical French jewellery making, this legal stamp independently certifies Charnier (high-grade rolled gold)—a thick, solid plate of karat gold mechanically heat-bonded to a dense inner core.

Because French law strictly prohibited stamping exact karat weights on filled metals to prevent consumer fraud, the government applied the "Garantie" stamp to certify that the piece met their rigorous minimum thickness standards. 

This is a beautiful chain necklace which has stood the test of time and is just as relevant today as it was 80 + years ago. It is in excellent vintage condition.

The total length of the necklace is 43.5cm.
