Spotlight On Vesta Case Necklaces
Vesta Cases were small portable boxes used to carry vestas (short matches) and were carried by men and women alike. The name was taken from the goddess Vesta, a Roman deity of fire and the hearth. They came into use around the 1830s and were produced extensively between 1890 and 1920.
They were manufactured in many shapes and forms and were often elaborately decorated with beautiful and symbolic engraving. For the more discerning and wealthy customer they were produced in sterling silver or gold.
Combined with contemporary chains vesta cases make unique and beautiful necklaces to be worn and loved today.

About Vonk Jewellery
Vonk Jewellery is a curated collection of antique and vintage jewellery and objects. These treasures are remodelled to create unique jewellery that can be worn and loved today.
A love of objects from a bygone age is in my DNA.
My mother had a vintage clothes and jewellery stall when I was a child, our house was furnished with antiques and my parents collected old advertising prints. My brother is a successful antique restorer and dealer with his own shop in beautiful Hampshire and I love visiting the antique fairs and markets with him when I go back to the UK. It is his encouragement that has inspired me to combine my love of old objects and my 20+ years experience of designing and creating jewellery to launch Vonk Jewellery.
I hope that you love these pieces as much as I do and will enjoy the stories they have to tell.
