Vintage Coin, Pearl And Lapis Earrings
$120.00
These gorgeous earrings feature 1938 and 1941 British threepences with keshi pearl, lapis and sterling silver chain drops and are on sterling silver hooks. A unique pair of earrings.
The British threepence was known as a threepence or threepenny bit and was first used in England during the reign of Edward VI (1547-53). All threepences minted from 1816 to 1919 were made of sterling silver and those produced between 1920 and 1946 were half silver, half nickel. These coins were often made into bracelets by soldiers serving in WWII to send home to their sweethearts.
The earrings are 6cm in length.
This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. These coins are in great vintage condition.
