Lovely 1930's carved celluloid flying stork brooch with a c clasp.

Made from early cream-colored plastic (likely celluloid or galalith), it has beautifully carved, textured wings with hand-painted black accents and  striking red beak and legs.

Historically, flying storks were highly popular regional tokens of luck and new beginnings, frequently crafted as cherished souvenirs in France (Alsace) and across Europe during the pre-war era.

The reverse features a classic, era-appropriate elongated metal hinge and simple C-clasp.

An unusual and pretty treasure.

The brooch measures 6cm. 

This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This brooch is in great vintage condition.
