Vintage 10ct Rolled Gold Carl Art Heart Locket And Natural Turquoise Necklace

Lovely vintage 10ct rolled gold Carl Art heart locket with floral details. I have added it to a beautiful strand of natural turquoise and a gold fill front clasp. The heart locket can be easily removed so you can add other charms or pendants. The round clasp can also be worn at the back so that you have a traditional string of turquoise beads. A truly unique and versatile necklace perfect for the Summer.

The heart locket is stamped inside 1/20 10k gold fill.

Carl Art were a prestigious American jewellery manufacturer founded in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1936. Established by German craftsman Carl Schraysshuen and businessman Arthur Kaplan, Carl-Art became highly celebrated mid-century for its exceptional craftsmanship, romantic designs, and premium-quality gold-filled jewellery.

Elizabeth 1 is thought to have owned one of the first sentimental lockets which was a ring depicting tiny portraits of both herself and her mother Anne Boleyn. Before the invention of photography locks of hair were often put in lockets to remind you of loved ones. The popularity of lockets as a keepsake grew with the widespread use of photography and endures today.

The locket measures 2.5cm x 2cm (including the bail). The necklace measures 43cm.
