Antique Watch Fob Long Pearl Necklace

This gorgeous long pearl necklace features a sterling silver shield watch fob with a sterling silver oval spring clasp. The watch fob is hallmarked Birmingham but is slightly worn so I am unable to see the date mark.  It is blank on the back and the front cartouche is also blank, an unusual feature of these type of medallions as they often have initial engravings or inscriptions.

The pearl necklace is asymmetrical with hand wired keshi pearls, freshwater pearls and crystals along one side and the clasp easily opens so that you can add your own favourite charms or pendants making it a truly versatile and beautiful piece of jewellery. 

The necklace can be worn with the clasp at the back for a luxe, classic look or the clasp and pendant can be worn at the front for a totally different look. 

A fob is an adornment or a seal that hung from the ribbon or chain of a Gentleman's pocket watch. Its purpose was to decorate or add weight to the watch chain. Watch fob pendants were often given as prizes or to commemorate a special occasion or event.

 The total length of the necklace including the watch fob is 76cm. The watch fob measures 4cm x 2.5cm.

This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This watch fob is in great  condition.
