Gorgeous antique sterling silver fob with carnelian and bloodstone inserts and an unusual engraved horseshoe feature. The fob is hallmarked for Birmingham 1905 with the makers mark JC possible for John Culver and is hanging from an Italian sterling silver curb chain.

A fob is an adornment or a seal that hung from the ribbon or chain of a Gentleman's pocket watch. Its purpose was to decorate or add weight to the watch chain. Some fobs swiveled within a moveable bracket to allow the wearer a choice as to which face was displayed prominently.

The fob measures 3.3cm x 2.8cm including the ring and bail. The chain measures 55cm.

This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to it's history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This fob has is in great antique condition.
