Antique Silver Rose Gold Horseshoe Equestrian Brooch
$120.00
Beautiful antique silver with rose gold highlights brooch featuring 2 horseshoes and a riding crop. The brooch is not hallmarked but is acid tested for silver and has a c clasp and pin indicative of the Victorian or Edwardian era. A gorgeous gift for a racing or horse riding enthusiast.
Horseshoe or equestrian themed jewellery was very popular during the Victorian era. The horseshoes symbolised good luck and the riding crop to reflect one's interest in horse riding and other equestrian sports. Jewellery with this theme also reflected your social standing as often these pursuits were typically limited to the upper classes.
Brooches were extremely popular in Victorian/Edwardian times and were often placed on ribbon around the wearer's neck to create a colliers de chien or ‘dog collar’. Brooches are now having a comeback and are a great way to add some individual style to your outfit.
The brooch measures 5cm.
This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This gorgeous brooch is in great antique condition.
