Antique Silver Floral Sweetheart Brooch

Lovely antique silver sweetheart brooch featuring raised floral detailing.

The forget-me-not flower held a poignant meaning in Victorian jewellery  symbolising enduring love and remembrance.

Sweetheart brooches were given as tokens of love by soldiers to their loved one before they entered active service. They were often also given to Mother's and other family members as keepsakes to remember the giver by.

Brooches were extremely popular in Victorian/Edwardian times and were often placed on ribbon around the wearer's neck to create a colliers de chien or ‘dog collar’. Brooches are now having a comeback and are a great way to add some individual style to your outfit.

The brooch measures 4.5cm.

This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This gorgeous brooch is in great antique condition.
