Stunning Art Deco era celluloid butterfly brooch.

Capturing the early 20th-century fascination with whimsy and novelty insect motifs, this unique brooch features oversized wings in a rich, semi-translucent honey-yellow tone designed to mimic natural amber or tortoiseshell. The front showcases delicate, hand-painted white wing veins accented by orange spots. The back reveals an authentic cream-colored backing layer with fine, historic crazing—a testament to its age and organic early plastic composition and the original pin and clasp indicative of the era. 

This beautiful brooch is a great example of Art Deco jewellery and is in excellent antique condition.
