Beautiful edwardian 9ct gold lined silver Mother sweetheart brooch with turquoise and seed pearls. The brooch is in very good antique condition with all the stones and pearls still intact and with a pin and c clasp indicative of the era.

Sweetheart jewellery refers to sentimental pieces given by family members, lovers, or soldiers departing for war. Popularised during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras (1890–1915), name brooches like "Mother," "Sister," or "Dearest" were cherished family keepsakes worn proudly on lapels or high collars.

The stamp stands for "9ct Silver Lined." This was a high-quality manufacturing technique famously utilized by historic Australian jewellers like Apex (George Rodd). Instead of cheap, thin electroplating, a structural sheet of solid 9-karat gold was mechanically bonded over a sterling silver base. This creates a highly durable piece with the genuine weight and look of solid gold that doesn't easily wear away over time.
