Vintage Collar Pin Charm Holder Brooch

Original vintage (probably 1920/30's) gentleman's collar pin made from brass and copper. These pins make great charm holders to create a unique brooch or pin.

In the 1920's men were eager to shake off the stuffiness of the starched collars of the Victorian and Edwardian periods. Soft collar shirts became more popular but often looked untiday as the softer fabrics could not support a tie. By connecting the collar to a pin a more defined shape and neater look was achieved and the tie would sit elevated with a slight arch in a smart and sophisticated manner. Two types of pins were used. A classic pin bar that had screw off ends that fitted through eyelets in the collar, or a large safety pin that could be attached to any collar like these.

The pin measures 4.5cm.

This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care.
