Antique Sterling Silver Flirting Mirror Necklace
$225.00
Gorgeous sterling silver flirting mirror hallmarked Birmingham 1920 and with the maker's mark C&N for Crisford & Norris of Vyse St, Birmingham. I have put it on a modern sterling silver ball chain to create an unique and unusual necklace .
Flirting mirrors were used to attract the attention of handsome potential gentlemen in Edwardian times. Ladies would reflect light towards their hearts desire to show their interest. The hand mirror could also be part of a ladies chatelaine.A chatelaine was generally carried by the lady of the house and was a decorative belt hook or clasp worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it. Each chain was mounted with useful household items such as scissors, fruit knives, thimbles, watches, keys, small purses, stamp cases and pencils.
The mirror measures 6cm and the chain measures 70cm.
This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This gorgeous piece is in very good antique condition.
