Antique 1911 Crisford & Norris Silver Stamp Case Pendant

Beautiful and unique antique sterling silver and enamel stamp case pendant. It is hallmarked 1911 and has makers marks C & N for Crisford & Norris of Vyse St, Birmingham. The case has stamps in blue enamel along the bottom. The enamel is in excellent condition with none or very little loss and the case opens and closes cleanly. It has sterling silver jump ring so you can add it to your favourite chain. 

Crisford & Norris is a highly collectible Birmingham silversmith well known for their high quality silver items such as vesta cases, rattles and stamp cases. They were in business from 1896 to 1959.

Stamps were expensive items and therefore were stored in special boxes or cases. Small stamp cases were designed to hold just a few stamps and the simplest were of decorated cardboard, while the more elaborate were made of precious metals. Many had small rings attached so they could be suspended from a watch chain or necklace. Some were so elaborately adorned that they were as much items of jewellery as utilitarian objects.

The stamp case measures 2.8cm x 2cm. 

This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This gorgeous piece is in great antique condition.
