A beautiful and unique sterling silver pendant converted from an antique silver button featuring Cupid and Psyche in relief. The button has the makers mark HW on the back for Henry Williamson Ltd. 

Henry Williamson was founded in Coventry in 1865. Whilst first finding success from the manufacture of jet jewellery, by the 1890's the company had pivoted into becoming one of the UK's best silver novelty manufacturers producing high quality silver items such as buttons, picture frames, belt buckles and calling card cases. 

During the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, wealthy ladies wore highly elaborate, massive silver buttons on their cloaks, coats, and riding habits. These buttons frequently depicted intricate classical scenes, romantic mythologies, and Art Nouveau organic forms. 

 I have had the button converted into a pendant so that it can be worn and treasured today.

The pendant is 2.5cm in diameter and weighs 8g. The sterling silver box chain is 45cm in length.
