Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Albert Chain And Isle Of Man Triskelion Fob

Beautiful heavy graduated antique Edwardian watch chain necklace with an antique albert clasp, a T Bar drop and Isle Of Man Triskelion Fob. The T bar and fob can be removed aso the chain can be worn alone or with other pendants/fobs.

The Triskelion is the ancient 3 legged symbol of the Isle Of Man and this one is presented within a belt and buckle surround. Symbolism was very important in Victorian jewellery and the buckle was a popular motif. It represented eternity, fidelity/loyalty, strength and protection. The symbol curves around and threads back onto itself, creating an eternal loop. The Isle Of Man was a fashionable tourist destination during this period and this was most probably a souvenir.

The T Bar is is hallmarked with the letter n for 1912 and the makers mark JR  and each of the graduated silver links is stamped with the lion passant. The Triskelion fob is hallmarked Chester 1903 with the makers mark WG&S for William Gibson and Son.

The chain is 39cm and weighs a good 28 grams.

This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This watch chain necklace is in great antique condition.
