Antique 1896 Sterling Silver Sovereign Holder Pendant
$365.00
Beautiful sterling silver sovereign holder pendant. It has clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1896 and has the makers marks MJJ for Matthew John Jessop of Hatton Garden, London. The internal mechanism is hallmarked Birmingham 1909. It has an empty cartouche on the front and a blank back.
This sovereign holder would look great on a chain or a pearl multiway necklace from my Chains and Pearls collection to create a unique and special necklace.
A sovereign case was used for carrying either full or half gold sovereign coins and often worn on a gentleman's Albert/watch chain and kept in a waistcoat pocket. The coins would be stacked tightly together by a spring action mechanism; a case usually holds about 4 or 5 sovereigns.
The sovereign case measures 5cm x 3cm inclusive of the ring.
This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This watch fob is in great antique condition
All Vonk Jewellery is presented in a gift box and pouch with luxe ribbon. If you would like a gift message included please message me at checkout.
Please note this is the price of the sovereign case only.
