Lovely sterling silver watch fob. It has clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1957 and the makers mark R.P for Robert Pringle & Sons of Clerkenwell Road, London, EC1. It has an empty cartouche on the front and a blank back perfect for your own engraving.
This watch fob would look great on a chain or a pearl multiway necklace from my Chains and Pearls collection to create a unique and special necklace. I was lucky enough to find 5 of these lovely watch fobs altogether so it is unlikely they have ever been worn.
A fob is an adornment or a seal that hung from the ribbon or chain of a Gentleman's pocket watch. Its purpose was to decorate or add weight to the watch chain. Watch fob pendants were often given as prizes or to commemorate a special occasion or event.
