$335.00
This stunning peacock pearl necklace features an antique sterling silver vesta case with a sterling silver bolt clasp. The vesta case is hallmarked Birmingham 1887 and has the makers mark CC for Colen Hewer Cheshire of Northampton St, Birmingham.
The vesta case has beautiful leaf engraving and a flourish of initials (TJB) on one side. The pearls are in beautiful green, purple and bronze tones and are all varying shapes.
The clasp easily opens so that you can add your own favourite charms or pendants, or use the whole clasp and vesta case on another chain of your own. A truly versatile and beautiful piece of jewellery. (Please see images)
The necklace can be worn with the clasp at the back for a luxe, classic look or the clasp and pendant can be worn at the front for a totally different look to compliment different necklines.
Vesta Cases were small portable boxes used to carry vestas (short matches) and were carried by men and women alike. So called after the name of one of the early makers (which was taken from the goddess Vesta, a Roman deity of fire and the hearth), they came into use around the 1830s and were produced extensively between 1890 and 1920.
The pearl necklace measures 48cm. The vesta case measures 5cm x 2.5cm (including the ring).
This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This vesta case is in great antique condition.
