Antique Silver Plated Compact Pendant/Locket

Lovely silver plated antique pendant/compact probably from a lady's chatelaine. The mirror is intact inside the compact and it is stamped EPNS on the back with a slight gold wash. This would look great hanging from a silver chain to create a unique and beautiful necklace.
The engraving on the "compact" is reminiscent of a Victorian Wedding gift for the newly married.
A chatelaine was generally carried by the lady of the house and was a decorative belt hook or clasp worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it. Each chain was mounted with useful household items such as scissors, fruit knives, thimbles, watches, keys, small purses, stamp cases and pencils. The "container" could have been used to carry special trinkets or pills
It measures 4.cm x 4cm and is 1cm in depth.
The pendant container does have slight signs of wear due to its history. It opens and closes perfectly. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care.
