The sixpence is known as the lucky coin. During the early 1600's it was customary for the Lord of the Manor to give his bride a piece of silver as a wedding gift. This was symbolically represented by a sixpence coin hence the rhyme "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in her shoe". That tradition of the sixpence as a symbol of good luck continues today. Sixpence coins minted prior to 1920 are sterling silver.
It has a sterling silver ring so that it is ready to add to your charm bracelet or your favourite chain.
Add a sterling silver 45cm box chain with pearl charm to your order to wear this charm as a unique and special necklace.
The charm is 2cm in diameter.
