These gorgeous earrings feature British threepences from the 1940's with white baroque pearl drops on gold fill hooks.
The British threepence was know as a threepence or threepenny bit and was first used in England during the reign of Edward VI (1547-53). All threepences minted from 1816 to 1919 were made of sterling silver and those produced between 1920 and 1946 were half silver, half nickel. These coins were often made into bracelets by soldiers serving in WWII to send home to their sweethearts. These coins are from one of these bracelets hence the holes drilled onto the coins..
The earrings are 5cm in length.
