1918 Double Sided Silver Watch Fob Pendant Necklace

This beautiful necklace features a rare sterling silver double sided watch fob pendant with a rose gold cartouche on a handwired sterling silver, gold fill and pearl chain. It is hallmarked Birmingham 1918 with the makers mark J.W.T for James Walter Tiptaft of Northampton St, Birmingham. A totally unique and stunning necklace. 

This fob has stunning crisp foliate details and engraving and has a real weight to it. Both cartouches are raised and the gold one is beautifully engraved with the letters CT. It is one of the most beautiful sterling silver fobs I have come across.

A fob is an adornment or a seal that hung from the ribbon or chain of a Gentleman's pocket watch. Its purpose was to decorate or add weight to the watch chain. Watch fob pendants were often given as prizes or to commemorate a special occasion or event. 

The fob measures 4cm x 3cm including the bail. The total length of the chain is 72cm with a 4cm extension..

This unique piece of jewellery may have signs of wear due to its history. It is beautifully imperfect and should be treated with love and care. This fob is in excellent antique condition.
