This stunning pearl necklace features a sterling silver shield watch fob and large baroque pearl drop with a sterling silver fob clasp. The watch fob is hallmarked Birmingham 1898 and has the makers mark J.A for James Alexander. It is blank on the back and the front cartouche is also blank, an unusual feature of these type of medallions as they often have initial engravings or inscriptions .
The clasp easily opens so that you can add your own favourite charms or pendants making it a truly versatile and beautiful piece of jewellery.
The necklace can be worn with the clasp at the back for a luxe, classic look or the clasp and pendant can be worn at the front for a totally different look to compliment different necklines.
A fob is an adornment or a seal that hung from the ribbon or chain of a Gentleman's pocket watch. Its purpose was to decorate or add weight to the watch chain. Watch fob pendants were often given as prizes or to commemorate a special occasion or event.
The pearl necklace and fob clasp measures 50cm. The watch fob measures 4.5cm x 2.5cm inclusive of the ring.
